Barbara Ellen Sorensen

Lyons, Colorado

Barbara Ellen Sorensen is the author of the poetry collection Compositions of the Dead Playing Flutes (Able Muse Press, 2013) and the chapbook Song from the Deep Middle Brain, which was a finalist in the 2011 Colorado Book Awards. She earned her BA from the University of Iowa and her MFA from Regis University in Denver. In 2009, she was made a Sequoyah Fellow of AISES for her years of promoting Native representation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. A former senior editor and writer for Winds of Change, Sorensen has also freelanced for The Tribal College Journal and edited Cultural Survival Quarterly.
