Gary Dop

Lynchburg, Virginia

Writer, actor, and teacher Gary Dop earned an MA in English from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and an MFA from the University of Nebraska. His essays have been heard on NPR's All Things Considered. His poetry has been published in former U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser's column, “American Life in Poetry.” He is the author of the poetry collections Father, Child, Water (Red Hen Press, 2015) and Earth Never Settles (forthcoming from Red Hen Press).

Dop is an English professor at Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA, where he is the founding director of the Randolph College low-residency MFA program.  Previously, he was writer-in-residence at North Central University, and a screenwriting faculty member for the University of Minnesota's MFA program.
