Leland James

Bellaire, Michigan

Leland James is the author of four books of poetry, three children’s books in verse, and two books on creative writing and poetry craft. His most recent works include Muse (Kelsay Books, 2018) and the children’s book Wordplay With Perspicacious the Cat (Little Red Tree Publishing, 2018). His work has appeared in the journals Rattle, Haiku Quarterly, the South Carolina Review, and Spoon River Poetry Review, among many others. He was the winner of the Aesthetica Magazine Creative Writing Award for Poetry, the Little Red Tree International Poetry Prize, the Portland Pen Poetry Contest, the Writer’s Forum short poem contest, an Atlanta Review International Publication Prize, and the Franklin-Christoph Merit Award for Poetry. James has been featured in Ted Kooser’s column “American Life in Poetry” and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
